A Quilt to Bring Comfort and Connection

There’s something so special about a handmade quilt. It’s more than just fabric and thread—it’s a gift of warmth, comfort, and the feeling that someone cares. That’s why I’m so grateful to be part of the Quilt Donation Drive 2025 Blog Hop, now in its fifth year. This incredible initiative is organized by Stacey Lee Creative and dedicated to providing quilts to Comfort Cases, a nonprofit that offers essential items to children entering the foster care system across the United States.
Comfort Cases fills backpacks with pajamas, books, toiletries, and other necessities, and this year, they’re including handmade quilts to offer an extra layer of love and comfort. Imagine a child, stepping into a completely new and unfamiliar chapter of their life, being wrapped in a quilt that was made just for them. It’s such a powerful gesture—one I’m honored to be part of.
My Donation Quilt: Always Together Quilt
For this donation, I made a baby-sized version of my Always Together Quilt pattern. The design of this quilt is deeply personal to me—it’s all about connection and community, something every child deserves to feel.
I pieced this quilt using leftover blocks from my Wildflower Wovens lookbook project. The fabrics include a soft, earthy mix of Wildflower Wovens by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics, paired with colorful prints from her Evolve and Duval collections. Together, they bring a sense of warmth, playfulness, and texture—everything I hope the child who receives this quilt will feel when they snuggle up with it.
The Always Together Quilt is one of my go-to patterns for donation quilts because it’s quick to make, kid-friendly, and designed to be scrappy or simple—perfect for using up fabrics from your stash.
➡️ You can find the Always Together Quilt pattern HERE.
And, in the spirit of giving, I’m offering 20% off the pattern with the code QUILTDRIVE through May 1st, 2025. Whether you’re making a quilt to donate or one to wrap someone you love in comfort, I hope this pattern inspires you as much as it’s inspired me.

Materials
✨ Use high-quality fabrics, the kind you’d choose for your own children or grandchildren. This ensures each child feels cherished and loved.
✨ Fabrics should be soft, durable, and machine washable (100% cotton or cotton blends work well).
✨ Choose batting that’s lightweight but cozy—cotton, cotton/poly blends, or bamboo batting are great options. I used bamboo for mine.
✨ Bright, fun prints or soothing, comforting color palettes are encouraged!
✨ Quilts should be securely quilted (no more than 4" between stitching) and have a strong, machine-stitched binding.

Why I’m Participating
The Always Together Quilt was inspired by the connections that keep us close, even when we’re far apart. Donating this quilt through Comfort Cases feels like sending that message in the most tangible way—wrapping a child in warmth, care, and love, even if we’ve never met.
If you’ve ever felt the pull to use your quilting for good, this is such a meaningful way to do it. And if you have questions about my quilt or the donation drive, I’d love to hear from you!
xo,
Tamara
