This design was inspired by the bright, full moon that occurs closest to the start of Autumn. The name Harvest Moon dates back to a time before electricity, when farmers depended on the moon's light to harvest their crops late into the night. 

Growing up in Iowa, I feel a sense of great nostalgia surrounding the meaning behind the Harvest Moon and the memories surrounding it. I've tried to capture the essence of the moon, the harvest rows, and the farmer in her tractor, in a modern, minimalist way that might draw you in no matter where you live.

We can all appreciate the memory of this bright moon. The rows could just as easily represent city streets, ripples on a lake, or waves in the ocean.

• Written for yardage.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Size

• 20 1/2" x 20 1/2" as a stand alone mini quilt.
• 20 x 20 when in a finished in a larger quilt.

Fabric Requirements:

• Fabric A: (1) 2 1/2″ square
• Fabric B: 1/3 yard or 1 fat quarter (18″ x 21″)
• Fabric C: 1/8 yard or 1 fat eighth
• Fabric D: 1/8 yard or 1 fat eighth
• Fabric E: 1/2 yard
• Binding: 1/4 yard
• Backing: 24 1/2″ x 24 1/2″

Basic Skills & Equipment Necessary

• Confident beginner patchwork and quilting skills
• Sewing machine, sewing skills, and basic sewing supplies
• Rotary cutter
• Paper Scissors
• Quilting ruler(s)
• Ability to print 8 1/2 inch x 11 inch paper
• Optional: Temporary Basting Spray
