About the Apple Harvest Quilt Block

The Apple Harvest Quilt Block design was inspired by a heartfelt ode to my cherished childhood memories under the canopy of our backyard apple trees and joyful annual trip to the orchard. Every stitch and color choice reflects the crisp, vibrant essence of fall, inviting you to savor the sweetness of the golden, fall afternoons. This quilt is a celebration of family, nature, and the simple pleasures of apple picking that marks the season. Join me in crafting a piece that not only decorates your home but weaves the rich tapestry of autumnal traditions into every thread. 

Description

• Originally part of the Sweater Weather Sampler 2024 including the following designers
  • Nine Patch Quilt Collective: Abby Maed, Carnelian Quilting, Crafty Moose Quilts, Cream City Studio, Dreamland Quilting, Heck Yes Sew Co, Quilt Scouts, Remi Vail Studio, Sew Joyful Studio. If you would like to purchase any of the other patterns you can find links on their individual sites.
• Six helpful tutorial videos are linked in the pattern.
• Instructions use cutting measurements and templates.
• Traditional piecing
• Written for yardage.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size

• 20 1/2" x 20 1/2" as a stand alone mini quilt.
• 20 x 20 when in a finished in a larger quilt.

Fabric Requirements:

• Fabric B: 1/8 yard or 1 fat eighth
• Fabric C: 1/3 yard or 1 fat quarter
  
• Fabric E: 1/3 yard or 1 fat quarter
• Background: 2/3 yard
• Binding (if making it as a stand alone quilt block): 1/4 yard
• Backing (if making it as a stand alone quilt block): 28 1/2" x 28 1/2" - includes 4" of overage on each side for longarm quilting.

Fabrics A, D, and F are used in other blocks in the Sweater Weather Sampler but not in this block so have been left out of the fabric requirements. 

Consider purchasing additional fabric if you are using directional prints, you like to have extra fabric in case of miscuts, or if you prewash your fabric to account for shrinkage. 

Basic Skills & Equipment Necessary

• Intermediate patchwork and quilting skills
• Sewing machine, sewing skills, and basic sewing supplies
• Rotary cutter (45 mm + 28 mm optional but helpful)
• Paper Scissors
• Quilting ruler(s)
• Ability to print 8 1/2 inch x 11 inch paper
• Temporary Basting Spray
• Fabric Glue
  
• Temporary Fabric Pen
• Clear Tape
• Fabric Starch
