About the Collective Kettle Quilt Block

The Collective Kettle Quilt Block design was inspired by the comfort of a shared pot of tea and the quiet strength of creative community. It's a celebration of gathering around tables, traditions, and quilts. The block holds a sense of home and heritage, inviting you to revisit foundational skills as you piece together shape, story, and connection. With timeless quilting techniques woven throughout, it's a warm reflection of our roots and the community that carries us. 

Description

• Originally part of the Sweater Weather Sampler 2025 including the following designers
  • Nine Patch Quilt Collective: Abby Maed, Carnelian Quilting, Crafty Moose Quilts, Cream City Studio, Dreamland Quilting, Heck Yes Sew Co, Quilt Scouts, Remi Vail Studio, Sew Joyful Studio. If you would like to purchase any of the other patterns you can find links on their individual sites.
• Helpful tutorial videos are linked in the pattern.
• Instructions use cutting measurements.
• Traditional piecing
• Written for yardage.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size

• 20 1/2" x 20 1/2" as a stand alone mini quilt.
• 20 x 20 when in a finished in a larger quilt.

Fabric Requirements:

• Fabric A: 1/8 yard
• Fabric B: 1/8 yard
  
• Fabric C: 1/4 yard
• Fabric D: 1/4 yard
• Fabric E: 1/8 yard
• Background: 1/2 yard
• Binding (if making it as a stand alone quilt block): 1/4 yard
• Backing (if making it as a stand alone quilt block): 28 1/2" x 28 1/2" - includes 4" of overage on each side for longarm quilting.

Fabric F is used in other blocks in the Sweater Weather Sampler but not in this block so it has been left out of the fabric requirements. 

Consider purchasing additional fabric if you are using directional prints, you like to have extra fabric in case of miscuts, or if you prewash your fabric to account for shrinkage. 

Basic Skills & Equipment Necessary

• Intermediate patchwork and quilting skills
• Sewing machine, sewing skills, and basic sewing supplies
• Rotary cutter
  
• Quilting ruler(s)
• Ability to print on 8 1/2 inch x 11 inch paper
  
• Temporary Fabric Pen
• Sharpie - Fine Point
• Rubbing Alcohol
  
• Fabric Starch
